DEMIK, John Eliza - Surrounded by his family, John's valiant battle with multiple myeloma ended. He was called home, at the age of 71, to his heavenly Father on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Beloved husband for 46 years to Nelly (Voskamp), dear father to John and Trish Demik, Elaine and Jamie Vyn, Mark and Christina Demik, Lisa and Greg Schuurman and Luke and Amanda Demik. Loving Opa to John, Alex, Kristen, and Mandy Demik, Peter and Bradley Vyn, Meagan and Jack Demik, Emma and Samuel Schuurman, and Claire Demik. Brother to Etha DeJong, Basil and Amelia Demik, Nelly Postema, Edward Weigelt, Peter and Lydia Demik and Leni Demik and brother-in-law to Arend Voskamp. Predeceased by his sisters Audrey Demik and Betsy Weigelt. Greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Mt. Hamilton Christian Reformed Church, 1411 Upper Wellington St., Hamilton, on Saturday, October 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, November 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. John's funeral service will be held at Mt. Hamilton CRC at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2009. Interment at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Hwy. 20, following the service. Donations to Calvin Christian School Hamilton or the Christian Reformed World Missions would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
